Here's what would happen if the moon disappeared

Ok, so let’s imagine that the moon will suddenly disappear tomorrow. Now this event would leave us with a lot of questions that need a lot of answers. The most important question is, of course, would humans die? Luckily, the answer is no but if the moon disappeared billions of years ago, then yes it is likely that humans would have never existed. So that leaves us with what impact this event would actually have on the planet. For starters, nighttime would be very, very dark. The moon is the second brightest object in our sky and is 14,000 times brighter than the third brightest object: Venus. Additionally, the tides would be lower than they currently are. This would mostly impact the life and habitat of small sea creatures such as crabs. Another strange change that would arise is that a day on Earth would be 24 hours, forever. This may sound strange because a day is always 24 hours, moon or not. However, billions of years ago, the planet's day only lasted 10 hours. This is because the moon, over time, slowed the Earth's rotation and is still slowing it down. Without the moon, in another five billion years an Earth day will still only be 24 hours long. Despite all of these changes being pretty severe, they all pale in comparison to what would happen to the Earth’s tilt. The moon plays a massive role in the Earth’s tilt and without it, the Earth would be off its axis by around 45 degrees. This means the Earth is spinning sideways, resulting in the North and South Poles occasionally getting as hot as the equator and the equator occasionally being as cold as the North and South Poles. Multiple ice ages would befall the Earth, almost certainly dooming society as we know it.
